Family Photos...
This years family photos taken by Mama on the front porch last weekend. Emailed to Uncle Steve for re-touching Friday morning. Submitted to costco for printing at 11 on Friday, and were ready for pickup at noon on Friday.
I couldn't be happier with the results, and the total cost for 5 8x10's and 20ish 5x7's was less than $20.

Halloween Lights
For Halloween this year the boys and I made 'mummy lanterns.'
They were very easy to set up, make and clean up, and the boys and I are happy with our results.
we started out with a 500ml wide mouth mason jar, they each had a small tub of modge podge, and a paint brush.
Paint the modge podge onto the jar.
wrap the jar in gauze (we had old first aid gauze that we used, but if you used self-sticking gauze, you could probably skip the modge podge).
Add a pair of googly eyes, and put a tealight inside!

Bikeride!
A skill we've been working on this summer...
At the beginning of the summer, he couldn't even ride with the training wheels...
Now he's zipping all over the place!!
Next step... operation remove the training wheels!!

Laying out his crests for his camp blanket...
Apparently, I have a badge problem :-) seems that as I've been collecting Girl Guide badges, the odd scout ome has snuck in, so I've put it away for the boys.... Tonight I pulled them out, and there were many more than I expected!

Baking, Cottage Style
This Cabin was built in the late 1940's, by my Great grandparents & Grandparents, and my children and their second cousins are in the fifth generation to use it. When the cabin was built, there was no hydro or plumbing put in. All cooking was done on a wood stove. My Grandma can pull better meals off of that old wood stove than I can pull out of my modern oven at home :)
I have never tried baking in it before, but there is an old copy of 'Kate Aitkins Cookbook' in the cabin, so I pulled it out, found a recipe for blueberry muffins, determined that yes, grandma did in deed have the staples for baking on hand, and put Buddy to work:
The bushes up on the highway at the top of our laneway were just full of blueberries
And within short order we had the required two cups:
So then we got out the cast iron muffin tin (which incidentally only has 11 cups, not the normal 12... but it is narrower, to fir the oven box on the wood stove)
And Buddy kept on working, using the old fashioned beater:
Pouring & Mixing:
Into the oven:
And we had a yummy breakfast the next morning :)
